Community Technology Center Decisions

A community technology center (CTC) should meet the needs of the community and leverage existing resources. Towards that end, the first step towards building or creating a CTC is asking:

What is the purpose of our center?
(consider the following options)

  1. Economic Development
    • Are there local prospects?
    • Will it attract newcomers?
    • How can we make rents affordable for businesses?
  2. Community Access and Education
    • What are the roles of schools and libraries?
    • Who will staff the Center?
    • Who will use the Center?
  3. Make Broadband Available
    • Who are the possible providers?
    • What will be the costs per month?
    • What are the options for bandwidth sharing outside of the Center?
  4. General Questions
    • Will we use a new or existing building?
    • Where will we get the bandwidth?
    • How do we fund the Center?
